Third man charged over fatal arson attack

A third man has been charged in connection with a fire that killed the parents of three children. [9 November 2009]

Sadek Miah, 23, from the Isle of Dogs in east London, has been charged with two counts of murder and arson with the intent to endanger life.

Children left orphaned

Abdullah Mohammed, 41, died at the fire in his home in Blackburn, Lancashire, on 21 October. His 39-year-old wife Ayesha died a week later in hospital. Their 14-year-old daughter Siddiqah is in a stable condition in hospital and her nine-year-old brother Muhammad is being looked after by family. The couple's third child Ashraf, 18, was away at the time of the incident.

Additional arrests

Two other men, Peter Bowden, 39, from Lytham St Annes and Imran Ali, 29, from Manchester, have also been charged in connection with the incident. A further two men from London remain in police custody on suspicion of involvement in the murders.
