Bob Widdecombe, Chairman, Devon and Cornwall Crimestoppers
Local businessman and Chairman of the Plymouth Raiders, Bob Widdecombe, has been volunteering for Crimestoppers for 18-years. Touched by the impact local murders have had on communities around him, he is passionate about the difference that Crimestoppers can and does make to ordinary people. He has also been instrumental in reducing vandalism in high-crime schools by introducing basketball programmes.

Kelly Field volunteers for her local Crimestoppers Board. In her day job, she works for a housing company that operates in a number of challenging communities. Through her job, she has spread the word about Crimestoppers anonymous phone number. Since doing so, the number of phone calls to Crimestoppers has increased in the local area.


Darren Stevens, Gloucestershire Crimestoppers, 'Volunteer of the Year' award winner
Darren Stevens from Crimestoppers Gloucestershire was named as the inaugural Volunteer Award winner at this year's conference in Bristol. The award recognises the achievements of the Charity's volunteers. Described by colleagues as the “powerhouse” behind the Board's successes, Darren has been at the forefront of their marketing and fundraising efforts since their inception in 1995. Joint runners-up were Bob Widdecombe from Devon and Cornwall, and Mazhar Iqbal from the West Midlands. Recognising the efforts of our volunteers On Darren's win, Crimestoppers CEO, Mick Laurie, said: “Darren has contributed an unbelievable amount to one of our most successful regions and this award goes some way to recognising his, and all of our dedicated volunteers', efforts.” Details on how to enter this year will be available soon.
