HMRC (Tobacco smuggling)

Crimestoppers received a single call about tobacco being smuggled by somebody intending to fly back to the UK from abroad. The passenger was stopped by Customs at the airport and tobacco worth several thousand pounds was seized.

September 2009

Drug manufacture and cultivation

Crimestoppers received a call giving the address of a cannabis factory. Following enquires by the local police a warrant was executed at the address where a male was arrested at the address and 300 cannabis plants recovered (value £75,000). The male assaulted the police at the address, and due to his immigration status will be deported following criminal proceedings.

Vehicle crime

A car had been stolen following a car key robbery. A call to Crimestoppers gave details of who was responsible and where the car could be found. The police went to the address, recovered the stolen car & the keys and arrested one man.
