Dangerous driving

Crimestoppers information gave a nickname and a description of an address of a man who was suspected of driving a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run car accident. He has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice and other road traffic offences.

Sexual offences

A single call to Crimestoppers gave details of a man suspected of sexual offences against a young woman. The suspect was traced, arrested and has been charged with multiple sexual offences.

November 2010

Theft

As a result of Crimestoppers information a man was targeted by police and, when stopped, was found in possession of a quantity of stolen property. During interview the suspect admitted a string of thefts and burglary offences.

Public Order Offences

After an appeal in the media concerning suspects wanted in connection with Public Order Offences at a Football Ground, a Crimestoppers call identified one of the suspects pictured. As a result this male was arrested and cautioned.

Firearms/Immigration

Detailed information received concerning a man believed to be in possession of firearms lead to his arrest for illegal possession and for also being an illegal immigrant.

Weapons

A single online message to Crimestoppers gave information concerning the sale of a tazer gun.  A firearms warrant was executed at the known address of the person named where a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone was located.  One man was arrested and has been charged with a firearms offence.

Trading Standards/HMRC

Crimestoppers working in partnership with Trading Standards and HM Revenue and Customs regarding the illegal distribution of contraband, namely illicit tobacco, resulted in HM Revenue and Customs taking action against a man and the subsequent seizure of a substantial amount of cigarettes and tobacco.

June 2010

Disqualified driver

Crimestoppers information led to the arrest of a man who was said to be continuously driving whilst disqualified. Acting on this information, police officers targeted the area mentioned and observed the male driving his car. He failed to stop for the police but later arrested and later charged with a number of driving offences.

Cultivation of drugs

Acting on several pieces of information from Crimestoppers, police were able to close a dozen cannabis farms and seize cannabis with a street value of over £100,000

May 2010

Drug manufacture and cultivation

Crimestoppers information led the police to searching an address where a male was arrested and charged for cultivating cannabis. A number of knives and firearms were also recovered from the property.

Burglary

Crimestoppers received information naming a man wanted for several burglaries and also giving details of his whereabouts. The suspect has now been arrested & charged.

April 2010

Drug manufacture and cultivation

Information provided by Crimestoppers helped police to identify a property where cannabis was being grown. When searched, £250,000 of cannabis plants was discovered and one person was arrested & charged with involvement in the production of controlled drugs and other offences.

Assault

A single call to Crimestoppers led to the arrest of a person responsible for assault and false imprisonment. The information outlined specific details of the offenders and was described by officers as forming an important part of the investigation into the complicated incident.

Drug manufacture and cultivation

A caller rang Crimestoppers with information about a possible cannabis factory, adding that those responsible were planning to move the plants in the near future. Police went to the address where they arrested two people and seized thousands of cannabis plants.

March 2010

Immigration Offences

A single call to Crimestoppers gave information regarding a man who had entered this country illegally on a false passport and was working illegally. Acting on this, police and UK Border Agency officers went to man’s workplace, found false identity documents in his locker and arrested him.

February 2010

Possession of weapons

A single call to Crimestoppers led to a stop check of a man who was alleged to carry weapons, including a firearm for his own protection. A search of the man and his home address led to the recovery of several knuckle dusters, a samurai sword, a replica firearm and an air rifle. He was arrested and charged with three possession of weapon offences.

Burglary

A call to Crimestoppers gave information about the identity of those responsible for committing burglaries in a local area. The information gave details of where the burglaries had been committed. Subsequent enquiries by the police resulted in the arrest of one man who has now been charged with several burglaries in that area.

January 2010

Cannabis Cultivation

As a result of Crimestoppers information a total of seven people were arrested for cannabis cultivation.  This information led to the recovery of over 240 cannabis plants with a street value of over £48,000.

November 2009

Tobacco smuggling (HMRC)

Following Crimestoppers receiving information about the smuggling of cigarettes, a joint police/HM Revenue & Customs was mounted which resulted in the seizure of a large number of cartons of cigarettes.

Drug trafficking & supply/burglary

Crimestoppers information regarding drug dealing led to the police searching the given address where a large amount of cannabis in sealed bags was recovered. As a ‘bonus' property – stolen in a recent burglary and worth thousands of pounds- was recovered.

Trading standards

A factory producing counterfeit DVDs/CDs was closed down by Trading Standards acting on information passed to them by Crimestoppers. A quantity of copying equipment was seized along with a large number of counterfeit films/games etc.

Possession of weapons/drugs

Following receipt of a text message by Crimestoppers, police stopped & searched a man who was found to be carrying a machete as well as carrying a small quantity of cannabis.

Vehicle crime

Crimestoppers took a call about a man who was allegedly acquiring stolen vehicles, stripping them down and selling off the parts. As a result of this call, the premises in question where they recovered £'000s of stolen goods, one man was arrested and charged with theft.

October 2009

Cash, drugs and weapons seized

Crimestoppers information led to a drugs warrant being executed at an address where a quantity of cash and amphetamines were seized. Also found on the premises – and seized - were a number of swords and a crossbow. One person was charged with drug possession.
