Theft
Following a media appeal to identify the culprit who stole a number of charity collection tins, Crimestoppers quickly received several calls identifying the suspect who has now been charged.
October 2010
Theft
Information was received about a person shoplifting regularly at two local supermarkets. The information stated that the person had been shoplifting for several years. The person was arrested and cautioned for theft four days later, and over £150 worth of goods were recovered.
July 2010
Drugs
A single piece of information from Crimestoppers led to the discovery and destruction of drugs valued at over £5000.
Theft
A theft from a jewellers was captured on CCTV and the CCTV images were later shown on television. A caller to Crimestoppers identified the offenders as two men living in another part of the country. They were subsequently arrested and charged with the theft.
June 2010
Theft
Police published the CCTV image of a shoplifter, asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Within 2 hours of a name being passed by Crimestoppers to the police, a warrant was issued and executed, the offender was arrested and the stolen property recovered.
May 2010
Assault
Following a serious assault in a fast food restaurant, CCTV pictures appeared in the local press. Shortly afterwards, Crimestoppers received a call identifying the male suspect who, when arrested, admitted the offence.
Drink driving
A call was received saying a female was regularly driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. The female was stopped driving provided a positive breath test and was subsequently charged.
April 2010
Burglary
A burglary took place at a factory and a quantity of clothing was stolen. A caller rang Crimestoppers with details of where the stolen items could be found. Using this information, the police recovered the clothing and one person has been charged with handling stolen goods.
October 2009
Police pursuit man found
A man driving a stolen vehicle managed to get away from a police pursuit. A subsequent call to Crimestoppers gave the details of where the man could be found and where the vehicle had been hidden.
September 2009
Murder
A call was received by Crimestoppers from a caller stating that a man had just been overheard to say that he had just stabbed a person and may have killed them. The address where the male was hiding was given and immediately phoned through to police. The police reported that as a result of the Crimestoppers information, a man had been arrested and charged with murder.
