Doing the runway walk

Guernsey Crimestoppers - Doing the runway walk with BBC Guernsey

Sunday 12th November 2007 was an important day for Guernsey Crimestoppers.

With the valuable assistance of BBC Radio Guernsey and presenter John Randall, every registered charity in Guernsey was invited to take part in a “runway walk” for their own specific causes.

The day arrived and around 150 people were present. The airport runway was closed for 1 hour and participants strolled the 1 mile route. At one point, Dame Mary Perkins, Founder of Specsavers, led a very long conga line!

When the dust had settled, all agreed that the day had been a fantastic success and the media publicity again enforced the Crimestoppers message.

A total of over £10,000 was raised for the local charities and Guernsey Crimestoppers received £1,000 of this - much-needed funds that can be ploughed back into communities to make them safer.
