Volunteering in Leicestershire
We are recruiting new volunteers for our Leciestershire and Rutland committee.
There are two types of volunteers:
- Associate - Associate volunteers support the charity by running stands at relevant events and by providing presentations.
- Executive Committee - Exectutive Committee volunteers plan and run campaigns and attend committee meetings.
We are looking for 6 Associate volunteers and 4 Executive Committee volunteers. We are particularly interested to hear from those with PR, Media Relations, Fundraising and Marketing skills.
Our ethos
If you, like us, believe that people and communities have a right to live free of crime and from fear contact us now. Unfortunately, there can be reluctance on the part of members of the public to approach the police directly with information about criminal activity. This may be due to fear of being identified by the perpetrators and the possible consequences of this, or they may have other reasons for not wishing to get involved. Crimestoppers offers a safe way for people to give information without disclosing their identity.
How Crimestoppers works
Anyone can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Caller are not asked for their name. Calls are not recorded and the phone number they ring from is not captured. Information can also be given online. Our local committees fund, plan and run the activities which make a difference in their area.
What we achieve
The record of Crimestoppers is impressive. Last year nationally useful information received by the charity rose by 1% but people in Leicestershire and Rutland smashed this rise by attaining an 11% increase to 1433, when compared to the previous year.Every day 23 people are arrested across the UK as a result of information passed to Crimestoppers.
Our staff and volunteers want to continue to serve the people of Leicestershire and Rutland to make a difference.
Leicestershire and Rutland Crimestopper volunteers are working to promote and encourage good citizenship and greater public participation in the prevention and detection of crime. If you would like to get involved further please email our Regional Manager, Sue Langley, sue.langley@crimestoppers-uk.org, and if you see, or know something about a criminal activity in your community, please do not ignore it, instead call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
