Good driver, bad driver
In 2008, the police want the public to use Crimestoppers to pass on information about drink drivers and uninsured motorists, to cut the death and injury toll on Nottinghamshire roads.
It will encourage Nottinghamshire people to phone the charity's anonymous phone number, 0800 555 111, to report drink-drivers and uninsured, unlicensed motorists.
As part of the 'Good Driver, Bad Driver' campaign, information cards will be given to people stopped for driving offences and the public asking them to contact Crimestoppers and give information about anyone driving illegally or in a vehicle unfit for the road.

People don't think how serious driving without insurance or a licence is until something happens to them. Although people may be reluctant to cause trouble for family or friends, your call to Crimestoppers could save their life. We need to help catch the people who drive but don't have a licence, or insurance, to prevent them from killing anyone.
Sarah Smithurst, regional co-ordinator for Crimestoppers, said: "It's not just a question of these people putting themselves at risk. If someone chooses to drive drunk or in an unroadworthy car, they are risking the lives of not only the other people in the car, but all the other drivers, passengers and pedestrians they pass."
The 'Good Driver, Bad Driver' campaign follows a police blitz on uninsured, unlicensed and unroadworthy vehicles in Nottinghamshire. After 'Operation Rustproof', which has run for a year, 2,841 cars being driven without a licence or insurance have been seized. So far, 1,800 of these cars have been scrapped.
To pass on information about bad drivers, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or fill out our anonymous online Giving Information form.
