Nottinghamshire Police thank Crimestoppers
Nottinghamshire Police have been saying a huge ‘Thank You' to every single person who has called Crimestoppers with information.
Last year 2,086 calls were made to Crimestoppers with information about crime in Nottinghamshire.
Assistant Chief Constable Sue Fish described the support of the public in continuing to provide crucial intelligence to the police as ‘overwhelming.'
She said: “I would like to say a sincere thank you to every single person who has called Crimestoppers with information.
“Every single detail of information given to us can help secure an arrest or conviction against a criminal. The number of people willing to help us in fighting crime is overwhelming and we are extremely grateful.”
Although callers can be eligible for a reward for information leading to an arrest, less than 4% of rewards available in Nottinghamshire are actually claimed.
Mrs Fish added: “The fact that people are calling Crimestoppers, not for the money, but because they want to see offenders arrested, is very encouraging.
“The number of arrests made in Nottinghamshire following Crimestoppers' information has almost doubled over the last 2 years. Results like this could not be achieved without the help of the public.”
The Crimestoppers 'Rat On A Rat' campaign, launched in 2003, has led to a significant increase in the amount of calls from the public about illegal drug activity and drug dealers.
Since 2001, there have been 16 times more drugs recovered from criminals in Nottinghamshire following information received by Crimestoppers and 35 times more money and property.
