Reward on offer after Clifton burglary

Members of the public could be eligible for a reward of up to £1,000 if they have information leading to the arrest and charge of the person(s) responsible for a recent burglary in Clifton. [13 December 2012]

The incident happened some time between 9.45am on Sunday November 4 and 1.30pm on Thursday November 8 at a property in Spring Road. During these times the offender(s) forced open a side window and carried out a search of the property. A men’s gold watch, which was given to the victim for his long service prior to retirement and had an engraved message on the back, was stolen. The thieves also stole a jewellery box which contained another gold watch and a selection of cufflinks, and a jar of loose change.

Ann Scott, Crimestoppers Eastern Regional Manager, said: “This burglary has not only robbed this elderly victim of some personal items, but it has robbed him of feeling safe and secure in his own home. You have nothing to fear by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers as we will take information anonymously on our 0800 555 111 number or through our website www.crimestoppers-uk.org. We do not ask for your name or any personal details. We do not trace calls or IP addresses and we do not record our calls. Those giving information will not have to give a statement to Police or go to court. In the 24 years that we have been running the charity has never broken its promise of anonymity”.

She added: “Did you see suspicious activity on one of the nights mentioned? Did someone you know display unusual behavior on one of those nights? Has someone confessed to being involved or tried to sell you such items in suspicious circumstances? Crimestoppers want any information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be”.

Individuals will only qualify for the reward by passing on information anonymously to Crimestoppers through its 0800 555 111 number.
