Our successes

Between December 2005 and December 2006, there were 4,919 actionable calls to the anonymous Crimestoppers number about crimes in Greater Manchester. This information resulted in over 396 arrests.

As a result of calls to Crimestoppers about crimes in Greater Manchester, £254,000 worth of vehicles were recovered, £33,000 worth of stolen goods, £37,000 worth of cash, £507,420 of drugs were recovered (in the previous year, just one arrest led to £5.5million of drugs being recovered), and 8 firearms were recovered.

Across the UK:

  • 1 person is arrested and charged for murder every 4-5 days as a result of someone providing information through Crimestoppers
  • 17 people are currently arrested each day with the help of information from Crimestoppers
  • Almost 50% of all arrests are currently for drugs offences
