Crimestoppers offer up to £5k reward for information on sexual assault of two women in Glasgow
Crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers is today offering a reward of up to £5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the rape of one woman and sexual assault of another in Glasgow in the early hours of yesterday morning [21 December].
The charity is putting up the reward after a 20-year-old woman was raped on James Watt Street, near to Broomielaw, in the city centre, at around 4am on Wednesday December 21.
Around 15 minutes later, a 22-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on the same street.
Police are keen to track down a man who is described as white, aged between 20 to 30-years-old, around 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, with a slim-to-medium build. He is said to have spoken with a local accent, had light or brown hair, and had a distinctive white or silver watch on his right wrist.
Dave Cording, Deputy Chief Executive for Crimestoppers, said: “This was an extremely heinous attack on two women, with both suffering horrific ordeals.
“The person responsible for these attacks needs to be caught and brought to justice for his callous and cowardly actions, and the public can play a key role in identifying him.
I would urge anyone with information on these attacks to contact Crimestoppers immediately on our anonymous number 0800 555 111 or through our website www.crimestoppers-uk.org. Don’t let him reoffend, tell us who he is so we can bring him to justice.”
The reward of up to £5,000 is offered for information provided to Crimestoppers through our anonymous number 0800 555 111 that leads to an arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for these specific crimes.
