Dumfries and Galloway launch new campaign and sub-board
Dumfries & Galloway launched both their sub-board and a new campaign at a reception at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries on Wednesday 12 May 2010.
The campaign is titled "The Big Picture" and is a public protection campaign which will encompass and assist the whole area. Partners including Adult Protection, Child Protection and Domestic Violence groups are linking with Crimestoppers for this campaign which will enable the most vulnerable people in society to report wrongdoing without fear.
Award given
The well attended launch also saw the Dumfries & Galloway Standard editor, Kenny Barr, receive an associate plaque on behalf of the newspaper from Scotland Crimestoppers Chairman John LS Malcolm, as Dumfries' chair, Chris Lyon, looked on.
An exciting time
Chair of the Dumfries Board, Chris Lyon said: "I am confident with the skills and influence of the committee members we can continue to achieve, and hopefully improve, Crimestoppers’ calls-to-arrest rates.
"It’s an exciting time and we have set ourselves a number of goals to achieve which include encouraging more calls to help root out criminals and further increasing the committee representation to better reflect the communities we represent as well as working with other agencies and the police to promote Crimestoppers and its role in solving crime and reducing the fear of crime.”
