North Lanarkshire Roadshow
Hot on the heels of the current half year Crimestoppers results for the area, Kate Jackson, projects organiser for Crimestoppers visited Wishaw and Shotts today to encourage the public to continue to help them put crooks in their place. [25 October 2010]
Half-yearly results for actionable (useful) calls for the Wishaw, Shotts and Motherwell areas are up over 9 per cent on last year's - from 109 to 119.
Success
One of the successes from these calls was the recovery of nearly £50,000 worth of cannabis plants.
Kate was in Tesco in Wishaw and the Co-Operative in Shotts talking to the public about Crimestoppers and handing out information. She said, "It is very important for us to reiterate the message that the charity Crimestoppers is anonymous and independent. This allows people who feel that for whatever reason, they can't contact the police, to contact Crimestoppers with information on crime or criminals."
