Car crime
Surrey Crimestoppers, in conjunction with Surrey Police and the Spelthorne Safer Stronger Partnership, promoted a campaign aimed at getting the public to phone in any information they have about car crime in the borough.
With 20,000 postcards delivered through front doors, we hope the public will respond by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, with information about who's committing this type of crime.
The launch took place at a Partnership Action Day held in at Tesco in Stanwell. The day not only saw the launch of this important initiative, but also neighbourhood officers, the DVLA, the Vehicle Inspectorate and parking enforcement officers working together to address neighbourhood concerns.
Keen to ensure the public sit up and listen, Crimestoppers and Surrey Police recruited Status Quo band member John Rhino Edwards, to give the campaign some kudos with his presence at the launch. Status Quo once released a track called "Don't drive my car." Clearly they're in tune with Crimestoppers and the police in wanting to crack car crime!

Michael Varah, Chairman of Surrey Crimestoppers at the time, said: "Everyone can do something to stop theft of or from vehicles. Through this campaign, we want to reach those people who know who the offenders are, but are too frightened to come forward."
Inspector Sarah Greenhalgh, Neighbourhood Inspector, added: "Together we can crack car crime. Crimestoppers offers the opportunity to call and give information anonymously about who is committing this type of crime. I would urge anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to help us and the communities of Surrey, to wipe out this type of crime".

Call 0800 555 111 if you want to give information about crime and criminals anonymously.
