Working with young people
Getting messages across to young people about drugs, alcohol, other crime and anti-social behaviour, has always tested the best of agencies.
All has not been lost, however, as Crimestoppers has enjoyed much success in using the medium of popular music as a means to engage young people in events such as SNAP dance/club nights.
There are a number of areas who run SNAP dance/club nights with the biggest ones being in Worthing, Chichester and Brighton. In some cases, the events make money and this money is then reinvested into community action for the benefit of others.
Another way of getting the message across about drugs, alcohol, other crime and anti-social behaviour is through special musical School Tours.
Pictured here is Owen, managed by Brian Setchfield of Foxfield Productions, who is also a Board member of Sussex Crimestoppers. Brian also manages a girl group called 'Untouched', and the tours often cover nine schools in a week, presenting to hundreds of young people from age 11 - 13.
