Talk to us about doorstep crime

There have been a number of crimes in Dorset involving the elderly being duped out of their life savings. That's why we decided that Crimestoppers Dorset would mount a campaign.

Dorset Crimestoppers - Talk to us about doorstep crimeMagna Housing Association and Morrish Builders kindly sponsored our leaflet campaign. The leaflets were designed to warn older people about doorstep crime and to teach them to exercise precautions.

We printed 10,000 leaflets, explaining how they could contact Crimestoppers on the 0800 555 111 phone number completely anonymously. As only 1 person in 20 who is the victim of doorstep crime tells the police. We really need to encourage victims to call Crimestoppers if they don't want to speak to the police. The strapline for the leaflet was 'Talk to us about doorstep crime. Don't stay in the dark.'

Leaflets were distributed throughout the county of Dorset via Dorset Police, Neighbourhood Watch and the District Councils
