Operation rogue trader
Crimestoppers Gloucestershire played a critical part when officers in the Forest of Dean and Gloucester launched a major operation to crackdown on criminals preying on vulnerable people.
Our plan was to disrupt the activity of distraction burglars and unscrupulous tradesmen who charge a fortune for shoddy work.
We know there are sometimes links between distraction burglars and rogue traders, as dishonest traders will often steal from old and vulnerable people if they get the chance. We suspect the same offenders may also be responsible for stealing construction machinery.
Our campaign succeeded in maximising disruption to criminals and to protect elderly and vulnerable members of society.
