Kingsbury School Pupil Wins Camera in Crimestoppers Competition

Eleven year old William, a pupil at Kingsbury School in Tamworth, received a digital camera for his winning entry in the Crimestoppers Competition at the 'Inside Justice, Public Open Day - Justice: Then and Now' - held at Warwick Crown Court at the end of last year.

John Rennie, Chairman of the Warwickshire Crimestoppers Board, visted William at Kingsbury School, to make the presentation in a Year 7 assembly. William won a digital camera courtesy of Warwickshire Crimestoppers for correctly answering 10 questions relating to the Criminal Justice System, past and present, and the agencies that work together to deliver justice in Warwickshire.

Head Teacher, Mrs Rogerson; PCSO Pete Beale; Claire Hendrie, Warwickshire Criminal Justice Board; and Carol Vines, Warwickshire Crimestoppers all attended the presentation to congratulate William on his achievement.

John Rennie, Chairman of the Warwickshire Crimestoppers Board said: "Crimestoppers are proud to be the sponsor of this competition and fully support Inside Justice Week in its attempt to open up the criminal justice system to young people."

Claire Hendrie, LCJB Communications Officer and Event Manager of Inside Justice Week 2007 in Warwickshire said: "This competition was designed to get young people involved in the Criminal Justice System in a way that was not only educational but also fun!"

Mrs Anne Rogerson, Head Teacher of Kingsbury School, a Specialist Science and Mathematics College said: "We are delighted that William has won this award. It is testimony not only to his ability to use source material and select information, but is also important since it builds upon our work in school, through which we prepare our pupils to be the responsible active citizens of the future. We are grateful to the sponsors and organisers for enabling this competition and say well done William

More than 3,000 visitors attended the Inside Justice Open Day and William was one of 121 children who entered the Crimestoppers Competition.
