Crime in the West Midlands is at lowest level for 18 years

The amount of crime reported between April and December last year was down by more than 10% compared to the same period in 2006.
There were 186,857 incidents of recorded crime between April and December last year, compared with 208,330 incidents the previous year.
Business crime was down 13.3%, criminal damage down 15.7%, robbery fell by 16.6%, vehicle crime was down by 12.8% and violent crime fell by 8%.
However, racial crime was up 0.1% and burglary up 5%.
