Worship watch
We launched 'Worship Watch' at the beginning of the year, to encourage the public to pass information onto Crimestoppers about the theft of lead from religious buildings.
Worhip Watch was launched in January 2008 in South Yorkshire, partly funded by Yorks/Humber Crimestoppers Board.
Local BBC TV and press attended the launch.
We worked in partnership with the police to encourage the public to pass information on to Crimestoppers about the theft of lead from all religous buildings.
It also included damage to windows, which are often of a very high value in religious buildings. We distributed a poster in communities and we're hoping that increased awareness of this crime will deter criminals and also increase intelligence to the police about who are committing these crimes.
Call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd like to pass on information about crime, or fill out our anonymous online Giving Information Form.
