Deadly weapons handed-in

Twenty-three dangerous weapons have been handed-in to police in York and Selby, as part of an amnesty in Yorkshire's Maximum Impact campaign.

The weapons include three guns and 24 cartridges, four large knives, 12 smaller knives, one combat knife, one meat cleaver amd ywo BB guns.

The amnesty will last for the full month that Operation Impact will run for.

Members of the public can place unwanted weapons in large red plastic containers, which have been chained down in reception areas at York police station and Selby police station. Anyone handing over a weapon as part of the amnesty can remain anonymous.
