13-year old Amir Ramadin lives in a housing estate in London. He most fears knife crime in and surrounding his school. One of his classmates brought a machete into school one day to use in a fight. Amir has been learning about Crimestoppers in his youth group.

"I've been a victim of crime once, when someone robbed my phone off me outside school one day. People come and wait for us to finish school, so they can attack us to steal our money and phones. It's always people from other estates who rob us, cos people from our estate stick together.

"I know people in my school who carry knives. I think they carry them to protect themselves, in case someone starts a fight with them. Someone even bought a machete into school once.

"We have policemen patrolling outside our school and there is one officer who is inside our school. That makes me feel a bit safer, but they never see what really goes on when they're not looking.

"I only really get scared when I leave my area, cos I feel safe in my estate. But some of the estates near me have more crime. And if you're caught on someone else's patch then they can make some big trouble for you. They wonder why you're there so they might try to attack you, or get their gang on you.

"I started going to a youth group because me and my mates get really bored -there's nothing for us to do. They told us about Crimestoppers in the group. I knew about Crimestoppers before but I didnt know that it's anonymous. If I knew something about crime, I'd call Crimestoppers because I probably wouldn't want to give my name and address to the police.

"It makes me feel a bit safer to know that I can go to Crimestoppers if there's a time when I feel I can't go to the police."
