More sex offenders caught

[21st April 2008]

The number of sex offenders arrested in the UK has risen by three times in the last year.

Nearly 300 suspects have been arrested and 131 children protected from abuse, according to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP).

CEOP was set up in 2006 and has a Most Wanted website powered by Crimestoppers Most Wanted system.

Since 2006, CEOP has helped to break up six international paedophile networks and has located 25 of the UK's highest risk child sex offenders.
