Pro-suicide websites preying on vulnerable people

A study has found that people searching on the internet for information about suicide are more likely to find sites encouraging them to commit the act.

Researchers from the British Medical Journal used four search engines to search for sites relating to suicide. Three websites that were all pro-suicide occurred frequently on all four seach engines. Only 13% of the websites found were for suicide prevention and 12% actively discouraged suicide.

Pro-suicide websites are not illegal in the UK.
