Under-age drinking crackdown success

[9th April 2008]

44,000 pints of alcoholic drinks were seized from 7,000 young people during February.

This was the largest police operation of its kind, spanning 39 police forces.

Mainly beer and cider were seized during the £700,000 operation. When police asked the young people where they had got the alcohol from, 70% refused to say, while 30% said they had gone to the shop.
