Murder probe after man's death

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man found in a road in Farnborough with a head injury died. [16 April 2012]

The 36-year-old man was found collapsed near the Old Courthouse pub in Cove Road, Hampshire Constabulary said.

Officers believe the man may have been attacked, a police spokesman said.

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives from Aldershot CID are leading the murder investigation and a post-mortem examination will take place next week.

The man's identity has not yet been released.

The police spokesman added: "Police would like to thank members of the public for their help and information, including people at the scene in Cove Road on Saturday night.

"There are extra patrols in the Cove Road area where local officers are appealing for witnesses and speaking with members of the public to provide reassurance and information."
