Chinese media used over double murder

[21 August 2008]

Detectives investigating the double murder of Chinese students in Newcastle will make an appeal for information through the Chinese media.

Zhen Xing Yang and his girlfriend Xi Zhou were found dead in the flat they shared. Mr Zhen had been tortured before he was murdered. Detectives will be holding a press conference on Friday with Mandarin and Cantonese translators, in a bid to prompt the UK's Chinese community to come forward with information. Police are also trying to trace a lodger who rented a room from the couple the week before they were killed.
