Madeleine police files to go public

[4 August 2008]

Police files collated by Portuguese detectives while investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann will be released today.

It is not known whether the entire 20,000 page dossier will be made public or whether only parts of it will be made available. The McCanns' lawyers were given access to the police files last week. They are scouring the files for fresh leads to give to private detectives, who will continue to search for Madeleine. Kate and Gerry McCann were cleared by Portuguese authorities last week, after they were named as official suspects in the disappearance of their daughter.
