More British arrested in Spain

The number of British people arrested in Spain rose by 32% last year, according to the Foreign Office.
2,032 Britons were detained in Spain between April 2006 and March 2007. Spain is the country most visited by the British at about 17million. According to the Foreign Office, many arrests abroad are due to "behaviour caused by excessive drinking". Thailand is the country that has had the highest proportion of injuries and deaths abroad among Britons, according to the British Behaviour Abroad report. In Cyprus, the highest proportion of Britons were arrested (377 out of 1.5million tourists and residents), followed by the US and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Arrests in the UAE were mostly related to the country's zero drugs tolerance.
