Most overcrowded jails named

The Prison Reform Trust has revealed the 20 most overcrowded prisons in England and Wales.

Shrewsbury prison is the most overcrowded. It has places for 178 prisoners but is currently holding 326, meaning it's overcrowding rate is 183%. Despite the overcrowding, the prisons were not found to be operating at unsafe levels. Swansea, Leicester, Preston and Dorchester prisons are also in the top five most overcrowded jails.
