Two more teenagers murdered

[18 August 2008]

A 16-year old boy from Manchester and a 17-year old from south London have become the lastest knife crime victims over the weekend.

Nilanthan Murddi, 17, was murdered in Croydon early on Saturday morning, following a street fight involving up to eight people. He died in hospital from a knife wound to the neck. Police want to speak to a mini-cab driver, who was believed to be in a blue Ford Mondeo, who stopped at traffic lights near the scene of the incident at about 1am on Saturday morning. The mini-cab passenger argued with Nilanthan and his friends from the cab. The man returned later, which resulted in Nilanthan's attack.

Conor Black, 16, was stabbed in the shoulder in the early hours of Saturday morning, after attending a party in Manchester. Conor was found on a patch of grass in Harpurhey and died on the way to hospital. A 16-year old boy has been arrested and is currently being questioned. Forensic tests are being carried out on two knives found nearby.
