Murder inquiry launched over missing oil executive
Police have now launched a murder inquiry after oil executive Carole Waugh, 50, went missing in April this year [2 August 2012].
Nine people have now been arrested in connection with MIss Waugh's disappearance, and one of those has been charged.
One man was arrested at Luton airport on Tuesday. The 47-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder after originally being arrested on suspicion of consipracy to kidnap and to defraud.
Police are now investigating allegations that Miss Waugh may have been working as a prostitute.
Not seen alive since April
Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane said: "Information has been received which has progressed this inquiry and we are now treating Carole's disappearance as a murder investigation.
"I am unable to go into further detail about the nature of the new information at this time, however, we now believe that Carole has not been seen alive since 16 April.
"Since that time, significant plundering of her estate has taken place to the value of hundreds of thousands of pounds."
