New fingerprinting technology to be released

Hundreds of cold cases could possibly be reopened because of a new fingerprinting technique.
Details of the breakthrough will be revealed by Northamptonshire police later this week in the Journal of Forensic Science. The method involves an electric charge, metal objects, and a fine conducting powder. The method is said to pick up even more fingerprints because it works even if heat vaporises normal clues.
