Raiders steal whole cash machine
[23 September 2008]
Three men used a stolen 4x4 vehicle to drag a cash machine out of a village post office in Bedfordshire.
The men attached a cable to the cash machine in Clophill Post Office to drag it outside. The men, all wearing balaclavas, subsequently abandoned the vehicle at the scene and escaped with the cash machine in a smaller car. The post office owner and his son woke up because of the commotion and confronted the men, who escaped heading towards Bedford on the A6. It is believed that the cash machine emitted some security dye, meaning that the offenders' skin, clothes, money and perhaps their vehicle may now be coloured.
