24 people die every day as a result of alcohol abuse

First Minister Rhodri Morgan has said that reducing fatalities from alcohol abuse was a priority for the Welsh Assembly Government.
The assembly government launched a 10-year strategy to target substance misuse and will be backed with £9.6million extra funding per year.
It's a priority for the assembly as the link between substance and alcohol abuse and domestic abuse, crime and anti-social behaviour is so stark.
The assembly government has estimated that the economic cost of alcohol and drug abuse in Wales can be up to £2billion a year.
