Car crash victim was stabbed in neck

A man who appeared to have died as a result of a car crash in South London has actually been stabbed in the neck, a post-mortem has revealed.

36-year old Steven Bates was found slumped in a car in Tennyson Street in Battersea on Thursday. Detectives launched a murder inquiry since the post-mortem results.

David Anthony Stuart was arrested in Accrington in July 2004 in possession of 20,000 ecstasy tablets and subsequently failed to attend his trial at Preston Crown Court in June 2005.
