Government gets tougher on drug dealers

The new 10-year drugs strategy, which will be announced today, may mean that drug dealers will have their assets seized on arrest, rather than later on after they are charged.

Benefits may also be withdrawn from addicts who drop-out of treatment programmes.

Other moves expected include school inspections to rate the effectiveness of anti-drugs lessons and new deals with foreign governments to reduce trafficking.
