Rhys Jones murder: Weapon found

[21st February 2008]

Since 11-year old Rhys Jones was murdered in Liverpool six months ago, 108 guns have been taken from the streets. One of these guns is believed to be the murder weapon.

Forensic tests are being carried out on the weapon. Detectives have also released what they believe to be the exact bicycle used by the gunman. The bike has a silver frame, black forks and a black seat. Police believe that this bicycle was left next to another one on a football playing field on Parkview Road, Croxteth, at 8.30pm on the night of the murder.

If you know any information about this crime or can identify the owner of the bicycle believed to be used by the gunman, call Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or fill out our anonymous online Giving Information Form. Crimestoppers is an independent charity and not part of the police.
