Service held to remember stabbed vicar
A service has been held to remember knife crime victim Reverend John Suddards at his parish church [21 February 2012].
The late-night vigil was held at St. Mary's Church in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. Members of the local community gathered, including those from St. Mary's School, where John Suddards was the school's vicar.
The spokesperson for the school said in a statement: "Although only recently installed as vicar of St Mary's, in the short time John had been with us he very quickly became a much loved and respected member of our school community."
"We will always treasure the memories we have of John. He will be greatly missed by us all.
"Our hearts go out to members of John's family."
Meanwhile police continue to question a male suspect who is being questioned over the death of John Suddards and 77-year-old murder victim, Betty Yates. The 47-year-old was arrested on Sunday after the two fatal stabbings were reportedly linked.
Police are permitted to hold the suspect for questioning until Wednesday morning.
