Sarah's Law rolled out
A pilot scheme that allows parents to check if an individual has a history of child sex offences is expected to be rolled out across the country. [25 January 2010]
The scheme would enable parents to find out whether anyone with regular, unsupervised access to their children has a criminal conviction for child sex offences.
Sarah's Law
Sarah's Law is named after Sarah Payne, an eight-year-old who was abducted and murdered by convicted sex offender Roy Whiting 10 years ago. Sarah's mother, Sara, has been working on bringing in the law in the UK, which is based on Megan's Law in the US. Megan's Law allows the publication of names, addresses and photos of paedophiles in some states.
