Crimestoppers and ACPO team up for Metal Theft Seminar
Crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) are teaming up next month to offer a seminar designed to tackle the ever growing issue of metal theft, with the crime estimated to be costing the UK around £800 million per year [13 January 2012]
The national forum, which will be held in Kettering on 8 February, is designed to provide a platform for all those involved in tackling this
crime to discuss the current issues and formulate a collaborative plan going forward on how best to bring the levels of metal theft down.
Metal theft has become one of the most repeated crimes amongst communities across the UK, with services such as rail travel and broadband internet services affected as a result of thieves. This type of crime has seen a steady increase as worldwide prices of copper, lead and other non-ferrous metals continue to rise.
Police forces across the country have been attempting to tackle this issue as it escalates, but the levels of metal theft are now at a stage where the clamping down on this crime is becoming increasingly difficult.
The focus of this event, which is being hosted by CJS Event Solutions, will be on greater collaborative working, increased intelligence and information sharing, with its main goal of coming up with a blueprint on how to cut the number of incidents occurring across the UK.
Speakers on the day will include Dave Cording, Deputy Chief Executive, from Crimestoppers, and John McBride, Superintendent, from British Transport Police, among others.
Whether you are from law enforcement agencies, manufacturers, or are simply affected or concerned by metal theft, you can be involved in this all day seminar by contacting CJS Event Solutions on 0845 052 9602 or by visiting www.metaltheftuk.com for full details.
