Fear over 'cold caller' stickers
Residents across North East Lincolnshire are being warned they could be lined up for burglaries or distraction thefts by bogus callers [5 January 2012]
Trading Standards officials said cold callers were visiting homes and offering "No Cold Calling" stickers.
Police are unaware of the organisation, Community Voice UK.
Officers fear the 99p stickers were identifying potential criminal targets.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: "The placing of these stickers on a door or window may indicate to bogus callers and criminals that the property may be susceptible to scams or distraction burglaries.
"Residents who have previously purchased and displayed a Community Voice UK sticker are advised to remove it."
