Sex assault on girl in Aberdeen investigated

Police in Aberdeen have appealed for witnesses after a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl [4 January 2012]

The attack happened about 22:00 on Monday in the Torry Battery area of the city.

The man who is described as just over 5ft tall in his mid-30s to 40-years-old and muscular is being sought by police.

Anyone who saw a silver coloured car in the area at the time is also urged to get in contact with Grampian Police.

Det Insp Cammy Preston said: "Investigations into the incident are at a very early stage however I would appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Abbey Place and Balnagask Road area around the time of the incident to come forward.

"This type of incident is rare in the Grampian area however, as always, we would like to remind the public to be mindful of their personal safety”
