Teenager collapses at illegal rave
A teenager collapsed at an illegal rave in Portsmouth where police believe people were taking so-called legal highs [11 January 2012]
The illegal outdoor rave was held underneath a tunnel at Farlington Marshes in Cosham late on Saturday into Sunday morning.
The 19 year old was male was taken to hospital for serious treatment for 24 hours.
Quantities of illegal drugs were seized at the scene and police believe ravers were also taking legal highs too.
Insp Jim Atherton, said: "We would like to remind young people and their parents of the potential risks from using 'legal high' drugs.
"We know that some parents are aware their children attend raves such as these, but they may not be aware of the risks of legal highs and the heightened dangers when mixing them with alcohol or other drugs."
He added: "We did not receive any reports from the community about the illegal outdoor party."
Extra officers will be on patrol in the area at the weekend and police said they were working with the landowners to try to stop a repeat.
