British 'sex tourists' to face UK law

British tourists who abuse children abroad could be prosecuted in the UK, even if their actions were legal in the country they visited.

In some countries, possessing indecent images of children is not illegal, and the age of consent is lower than 16 years old. The new rules, which will form part of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, will come into force on Monday. British police will work with police forces abroad to bring offenders to account.
