Crimestoppers' online service

[15 July 2008]

Several national newspapers have reported today that an anonymous email tip-off sent to Crimestoppers has been used as evidence in the court case in which Dr Angela Gilbert is accused of hiring a hitman to murder her husband.

We want to stress to the public that the charity does not receive emails. Via our website people can pass information to us about crime using a special online form. All information is submitted over an encrypted connection for people to remain anonymous.

We also want to take this opportunity to reassure the public that all information passed to us remains anonymous:

  • You will not be required to reveal your name
  • You will not have to make a police statement
  • You will not appear in court
  • Your call will not be recorded
  • Your call or online form will not be traced

Crimestoppers is an independent charity and not part of the police. If you wish to pass on information about crime anonymously, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or fill out our anonymous online Giving Information Form.
