Criminal information sharing delayed

A third of the recommendations on police sharing data, which were made after the Soham murders, have still not been implemented.
Sir Ian Magee, who is examining the current collection of data on criminals, said that the situation is a 'matter of concern'. The delay in creating a single police database, which would be a one-stop-shop for information about criminals accessible to all forces in England and Wales, means that we are still living with risks, according to Sir Magee. The Soham enquiry made 31 recommendations to try to improve the way police share information about potentially dangerous people. Nine of these recommendations are still outstanding.
