Fake canoe death trial

The man who faked his own death to claim money from insurance companies will be sentenced later today.
John Darwin supposedly went missing and was presumed dead off the Hartlepool coast in 2002. His wife, Anne Darwin, claims that he made her go along with the plan. She is denying five counts of obtaining money by deception and one of obtaining property by deception. The couple's two sons told the courts about their disbelief that she knew he was alive the whole time. The 29-year old son said how felt 'upset and betrayed' when a photograph of their parents in Panama emerged four years after the disappearance.
