Most Wanted paedophile
[25 July 2008]
An on-the-run paedophile has been posted on Crimestoppers' Most Wanted website by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.
Joseph Millbank, 48, is believed to have escaped to Europe after he went missing from the Perth area on 27 June. Millbank is said to pose a 'significant risk' to children, having abused young girls in towns and cities across Scotland. He was sentenced in January 2002 for three charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices. His sentence was 10 years in jail, with a 10-year extended period. He was released on 6 May this year, but failed to comply with the conditions of his licence. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest. Police believe that he could have travelled to France or Belgium, although he could be further afield in Europe. They are appealing to holidaymakers to look out for him.
CEOP and Crimestoppers joined forces in November 2006, to power the UK's first national website dedicated to locating child sex offenders who have failed to comply with notification requirements.
